OUR STORY

ROasted-to-order, single origin coffee delivered right to your door

HeLLO! Becca & pauly here.

We’re a couple people who love coffee, music, nature and everything else in between.

2016

Our story begins in Chicago, IL. Becca started home roasting beans on a popcorn popper on the back porch of our apartment and sparked her interest in the coffee business. She started working on the Marketing team at Intelligentsia Coffee and completely fell in love with the coffee scene. An idea started bubbling about starting our own coffee business…

2017

Looking to shake up our lives and explore the good ol’ USA, we set out on an epic roadtrip hitting as many National Parks as we could on our way to Portland, Oregon. Once settled in Portland, we stumbled upon Buckman Coffee Factory, a coffee roasting incubator with incredible resources and education for beginners, where Becca roasted her first batch of coffee on a legit Proaster roaster! Anyone interested in a coffee career in the Portland area, please check them out, can’t recommend them enough.

2018

After a short time in Portland, our twenty-something year old brains decided to head back to the midwest to start this caffeinated project. Pauly’s family had a 1971 Aristocrat camper trailer that seemed like a perfect little home for a small Mill City coffee roaster that we recently purchased. Our scrappy coffee dream was slowly coming together…

2019

Excited to now have a business and still having a lot to learn about the rules and regulations that definitely exist, we had to shut down after selling for about a year to meet zoning rules and food grade product requirements. So, we went back to the drawing board. We focused on our finances ( f*** student loans ) and began our search for a legit roasting home…

2020

After scouring commercial real estate for a building to be our coffee headquarters for months with no luck, we found a sweet little spot of land in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Still very much on the drawing board, we sketched a hilarious amount of building plans, finally landing on a simple idea that we would be able to build ourselves with a little help from our friends…

2021

COVID… lots of brainstorming, coffee sipping and planning…

2022

In September we began construction on our small roasting home, affectionately called “The Roastery,” or as some accidentally called it, “The Rotisserie.” With the help from Pauly’s Dad’s high school friend Tim Murphy ( can’t make this stuff up ), uncles, brother-in-laws, friends, and our neighbor Aaron, we got The Roastery under roof in roughly two weeks!  Finally all those drawings were now a reality and we couldn’t believe how close we were to finally opening…

2023

Construction continued almost through the rest of the year until The Roastery was ready for inspection. After having all of our business ducks in a caffeinated row and passing inspection, we could finally open for business! On November 16th we opened our online shop and the rest, as they say, is history!

2024

OMMCR hit the scene with a full menu; Early Bird, trailhead, Wildcard, slumberjack & the crowd favorite stormy. We became regulars at the Eagle River Farmers Market, along with some annual local events & festivals ( stoneline valley yayyyy ) and will definitely be back next year. we learned so many things and met many cool coffee people at the SCA Coffee expo & the Roast Mag roast summit. coffee subscriptions and bundle boxes have been awesome, and we launched an initial line of merch that becca lives in. Outside of ommcr, we do lots of yoga and bop around chicagoland and milwaukee to see our loved ones.

2025 —-> forever

so, what’s next? Becca is going all-in on Coffee with a packed 2025 market & event schedule. New coffees and merch are in the works, along with local collaborations. Usually while becca is lovingly roasting coffee orders, pauly is jamming in prep for live shows, and making beats to sell on his head nod culture beatstars store. maybe a beans & beats thing will finally happen!?

We can’t thank everyone involved enough for ALL the help, kind words and support.

Any big idea truly takes a village and we love our little village around us.

cheers to the future!

Why We Do What We Do

We love all coffees, from a classic Diner cup to special high-end micro-lots, whatever helps us get up and get going. our goal is to share good coffee with good people and show that a good cup of joe doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. The Old Man Murph’s menu will always be roasted-to-order, ever-changing and reasonably priced.

wait, Who is Murph?

“Hey, you’re not old… And you’re not a man?” - guy at our coffee booth… he’s not wrong 😂

This beloved roasting adventure of ours is named after the coolest dog that we’ve ever had a chance to know - Murph. He was a chunky Golden with a great attitude, who was always down for an adventure like Hiking, camping, or long walks through Woodstock, IL. - he’s a quirky force who deserves to have a company named after him.

What a legend.
